Ahh, PBIR. I was going to go to the event yesterday, but I’m waiting for a new engine for my racecar after I blew it up last month.

That looks fun! Is that the safety orange Bell sport series helmet for boat racing without chin vents? I always thought that helmet was really cool but haven’t ever seen one! Do you also race boats? Boat racing seems awesome but we don’t really have it in Pennsylvania lol.
Man, Florida storm clouds are so terrifying looking.
I think you’ve inspired me to try a helmet mount video for a session or two during my next event. I’ve always done the center/roll cage mount but the helmet seems to add a bit of excitement.
This was one of the SCCA “track night” events, yes? I really want to try one of those, they seem great. I haven’t been able to get out of work early enough since they started doing them...blah.
You going to give it another go next month? You’ve got a good amount of reserve grip left to work with in these clips. Keep it up and you’ll have those tires at a constant howl. =)

Yeah my helmet doesn’t have the chin vents. I don’t boat race, just liked the color, haha.
And yes this was an SCCA track night. I think they’re wrapping up the season soon though. If you sign up, email me, I have a code for $25 off...

I’m still newer at tracking, this was my 4th time on a track. I’ve only had one instructor led days. I didn’t realize I had that much grip in reserve, haha. I guess I was being conservative.

Cool, it seems like you enjoy it enough to keep going back! Having an instructor while you’re still relatively “new” is a great way to jumpstart your development and, ideally, avoid picking up any bad habits that will have to be fixed later. It’s perfectly OK to drive conservatively, and having an instructor in the car will help you carry more speed while also being safe. It looks like the car you’re driving is your street car/daily driver. I think you’d have a lot of fun doing a full weekend event with your local PCA or BMW CCA chapter. Those events are organized in a way that will be very familiar to you since you’ve done the SCCA track nights, and the quality of the instructors those clubs have is second to none.
I’ve been doing the track thing for a while. If you have any questions, I’d be glad to help if I can!
